In establishing our own business
processes, we used Lean Six Sigma
Value Stream Mapping
to identifiy activities that did not, in some way, directly
benefit our clients and then eliminated them.
Our marketing budget is very small, as the majority of our
projects are the result of "word-of-mouth" referrals. We do not have a luxurious office nor do
we "wine and dine" our
prospects and clients.
In November of 2007, we relocated
to St. Joseph, Missouri. Most Salesforce.com CRM
consulting firms are in the San Francisco area or other high
cost-of-living locations. The cost of
housing in San Francisco is 224% higher than St. Joseph. A
"very nice" three-bedroom home costs $150,000 in St. Joseph. In
summary, we are able to maintain the same quality of life for our staff
for 30% to 50% less than most of our competitors. This is a significant differentiator
and we pass the savings along to our clients.
How do we charge for
services?
Most of our clients
prefer hourly billing with a "not to exceed" limit. We also will consider project pricing if the scope of
the work is definable.
Our standard
hourly rate is"below the market rate" and we offer 501c3 charity
organizations a 30% discount.
